  24. This guide contains the information you need to install our Windows 95
  25. drivers and tools for your Hercules product.

  28. Important Note For Those Upgrading From Version 1.00
  29. ====================================================

  31. The UnInstall utility contained in Version 1.00 of the Windows 95
  32. software for the Dynamite 128/Video was found to have problems.  
  33. DO NOT uninstall the 1.00 software using the UnInstall program.
  34. We recommend installing the 1.03 release in the same directory and
  35. program group to avoid complications.  Follow the instructions
  36. found in "Running the SETUP Program" below.  If you are upgrading
  37. from Version 1.01, you may use the UnInstall program as described
  38. in "If You're Updating From An Earlier Release" below.

  41. If You're Updating From An Earlier Release
  42. ==========================================

  44. If you already have an earlier version of our Power Drive<tm>
  45. Windows 95 driver installed, you should run the UnInstall 
  46. program located in the Hercules PowerTools program group 
  47. before continuing.  Doing this removes the previous release
  48. of software from your hard drive, as well as all old 
  49. references to the drivers and utilities in your configuration
  50. files.  The UnInstall program will also change your display
  51. driver back to the standard VGA driver.  After running the
  52. UnInstall program, restart your computer.  You will be asked
  53. for the first diskette of the new Hercules software.  Windows
  54. 95 will install the new driver.  When asked to restart the
  55. computer, select "No".  You will now be ready to install this
  56. new software for the Windows 95 desktop.

  59. Running the SETUP Program
  60. =========================
  61.  
  62. If you received this software release on diskettes, you'll find the
  63. SETUP.EXE program on Disk 1 of our Windows 95 Driver and Utilities
  64. diskettes -- the very same diskette that contains this README.TXT 
  65. file.  If you've downloaded our software from one of our online 
  66. services, you'll find the SETUP.EXE in the archive -- it will be in 
  67. the same directory as is this README.TXT file.

  69. To install the driver and utilities, just run our SETUP.EXE program.
  70. If you run it from the task bar, make sure you type the entire path to 
  71. the directory that contains SETUP.EXE.  Otherwise, you might 
  72. accidentally launch somebody else's setup program.

  74. SETUP.EXE can install the Power Drive driver, our new Touch 95<tm> and
  75. Hercules Entertainment Center<tm> utilities, or both.  To 
  76. automatically install everything, choose the "Typical" option when 
  77. using Setup's "wizard" installation interface.  There's nothing more
  78. to do!

  84. Release 1.03 of this software contains the following improvements
  85. over 1.00:

  87. - Bug fixes

  89. This driver fixes DirectDraw problems which cause slow MPEG
  90. playback using the XingMPEG player in high color modes.

  93. Known Limitations
  94. =================
  95.  
  96. - A green flicker has been identified when playing MPEG files using
  97. the XingMPEG driver in a full window (bordered with the title bar)
  98. in high color and true color modes.  This problem can be alleviated
  99. by playing the MPEG file at full screen (no border, no title bar).
  100. We are currently working with Tseng Labs to resolve this problem.
